Technical English training

Technical English training is for experienced engineers and other technical staff who need to use English to communicate with colleagues or clients and to develop their communication skills in English so they can more effectively contribute to meetings, discuss technical drawings and production methods, give presentations focusing on technical facts and figures, and deal with phone calls in English, for example.

Typical course content will incorporate authentic materials and include :

  • developing specialised work-related vocabulary
  • discussing key business concepts
  • developing cross-cultural awareness
  • dealing with clients, customers and colleagues in English with ease and confidence
  • making effective presentations, in particular, presenting facts and figures
  • taking part in meetings and discussions
  • using English on the telephone with more confidence
  • writing emails, letters, reports and proposals with appropriate style and accuracy
Margaret taught several levels of English to our technical and administrative staff most of whom required it for their daily work. Teaching English to men and women who needed to know technical jargon before conversational English was always going to be a challenge but Margaret managed to captivate their interest week in week out.
